Thirteen people including a Russian couple lost their lives in a mudslide on the Thai resort island of Phuket on Aug. 25, 2024. Aside from the two Russians, nine of the killed persons were migrant workers from Myanmar and the other two were Thais. The incident also injured 20 people and affected 209 households.
Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat said that heavy rains last week caused the mudslides near the Big Buddha.
