Winning a gold medal at the Olympics is its own reward. Bringing honor and glory to the country is reason enough for our athletes to strive to do their best to bring home the top prize in the world’s most high-profile sporting event. But in case they needed additional incentives to go for that gold, a local property company is making the prize pot bigger and, well, more rewarding. Megaworld is committing to reward each Filipino gold medalist at the ongoing Olympics in Paris a fully furnished condominium unit in Bonifacio Global City worth P24 million. According to a statement from Megaworld, the condo unit is located at the company’s McKinley Hill township in Taguig City. McKinley Hill is well-known for its recreation of Venice’s Grand Canal. This is not the first time that the property development company led by billionaire tycoon Andrew Tan and his son Kevin Tan has so generously rewarded Olympic athletes. In 2021, after Hidilyn Diaz won the country’s first-ever gold medal in weightlifting, Megaworld gave her the keys to her very own fully furnished condo unit in the company’s Eastwood City township worth P14 million. The condo itself was also fully equipped and designed by Megaworld’s design team. The unit also comes with access to the first-class amenities of One Eastwood Avenue, which includes a badminton court, landscaped gardens, a lap pool, sunbathing lounge, a bar, sky gardens, yoga room, meditation garden, chess area, and a fitness center. "This 2024, we are celebrating our 100th year of participating in the Olympic Games, and what a way to celebrate this milestone than by recognizing the superb competitive spirit of our newest Olympic gold medalist and welcoming them to McKinley Hill," Lourdes T. Gutierrez-Alfonso, president of Megaworld. "As one of the most celebrated addresses in Fort Bonifacio, McKinley Hill is home to several world-class athletes, including members of the Philippine national teams for basketball and football. This makes it a perfect home for Filipino champions who live a life of passion and excellence through and through." The Philippines is fielding 22 athletes at this year’s Olympics in the capital city of France. The roster includes: EJ Obiena (athletics), Lauren Hoffman (athletics), John Cabang-Tolentino (athletics), Carlos Yulo (gymnastics), Levi Jung-Ruivivar (gymnastics), Aleah Finnegan (gymnastics), Emma Malabuyo (gymnastics), Elreen Ando (weightlifting), John Ceniza (weightlifting), Vanessa Sarno (weightlifting), Joanie Delgaco (Rowing), Eumir Marcial (boxing), Nesthy Petecio (boxing), Carlo Paalam (boxing), Hergie Bacyadan (boxing), Aira Villegas (boxing), Jarod Hatch (swimming), Kayla Sanchez (swimming), Dottie Ardina (golf), Bianca Pagdanganan (golf), Sam Catantan (fencing), and Kiyomi Watanabe (judo).
