The National Human Rights Commission of Korea has initiated an investigation into claims of excessive security measures during actor Byeon Woo-seok's recent travel. The investigation follows a complaint alleging that Byeon's private security firm, while traveling to Hong Kong, blocked gates, used flashlights on passengers, and conducted unauthorized ticket and passport checks at Incheon International Airport. The commission aims to determine whether the airport's security staff were complicit in these actions. If the airport facilitated discriminatory measures, a broader investigation may ensue. While the security firm apologized for the measures taken in response to an unexpected crowd of fans, Incheon International Airport denied endorsing these actions and has since filed a lawsuit against the firm for abuse of authority and coercion.
