In 1952, the Israeli government was looking for a new president after the country's first president passed away in November of that year. 👀 Because of Albert Einstein's Jewish heritage, global reputation, and support for Zionism, he was seen as an ideal candidate. 🇮🇱

Abba Eban, Israel's ambassador to the United States, officially extended the offer to Einstein on Nov. 17. However, the scientist declined because he thought he lacked the "natural aptitude and the experience" required for such a position. 🙅‍♂️ He also said that his age (he was 73 at the time) and his dedication to his science work would not let him fulfill a president's responsibilities. 🧑‍🔬
