The Avatar universe is rich with diverse Na'vi clans, each with its unique traits. These cyan-skinned beings from Pandora are deeply connected to their world, worshipping the goddess Eywa through the sacred Tree of Souls. James Cameron's inspiration for the Na'vi came from a dream his mother had about a "12-foot-tall blue woman," which he developed into a screenplay in the '70s and revisited decades later for Avatar. The Na'vi culture draws from various Earth traditions, with their language crafted by USC linguist Paul Frommer using elements from different indigenous tongues. Though each of the 20 clans shares a reverence for Pandora's life network, they each have distinct environmental and cultural characteristics.
