Animal Species That Caused Coronavirus Determined

An international research team has recently identified which animal species brought about the coronavirus. 😧

According to a new analysis, samples of COVID-19 are composed of DNA from animals such as civet cats and raccoon dogs. The latter was genetically the most common animal in the samples. 🐱🦝

Michael Worobey, an author from the University of Arizona, stated that those are the same species of animals that transferred the original SARS coronavirus to humans in 2002. 🧑‍🔬
 
That's really interesting and sheds light on how closely connected different viruses are to specific animal species. It highlights the importance of monitoring animal-human interactions for disease prevention.
 
Good thing they finally determined the origin. I thought it was the bat at first :unsure:
