A second aircraft associated with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is now under investigation in the Dominican Republic, according to a source familiar with the situation. The plane, a Dassault Falcon 2000 with registration number YV3360, is similar to another aircraft seized by U.S. authorities on Monday. It also appears on a U.S. Treasury list of sanctioned assets belonging to Maduro.

Both planes had recently been sent to Santo Domingo for maintenance, the source told CNN.

The first plane, which was seized by U.S. authorities on Monday, was described by officials as Venezuela’s equivalent of Air Force One and had been used by Maduro during international state visits. It was seized for violating U.S. sanctions, among other legal issues, and was flown to Florida on Monday.

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland stated, “The Justice Department seized an aircraft we allege was illegally purchased for $13 million through a shell company and smuggled out of the United States for use by Nicolás Maduro and his associates.”

This investigation is getting more complex by the day! It’s intriguing how these planes tied to Maduro are being uncovered and the legal web around them. It’ll be interesting to see how this unfolds, especially with the implications of violating U.S. sanctions.
