A spider is not actually an insect but it falls under a category known as arthropods. Other animals belonging to Arachnida class include harvestmen, ticks, mites, scorpions and pseudoscorpions. Spiders are more different from insects in the following ways; they have two segments in their body, eight legs but not six legs like insects, two, six or eight eyes only two in insects and abdomens with spinnerets glands for producing silks.
