I've seen various takes on grilled cheese sandwiches, everything from adding bacon to them to pork bbq to Mac and cheese, etc. I'm going to try making something like that and was wondering what kind of bread to use. I usually use Wonder Bread to make regular grilled cheese but I think I need something more substantial than that for these sandwiches.
Though a thick-cut brioche or even a multigrain adds a touch of sweetness or nuttiness that complements the gooey cheese. What's your go-to bread for this classic comfort food?
