Borg, McEnroe and Pete have dominated tennis and as the dominance of the Big Three declines their influence has contributed in changing tennis in and out of the field. Djokovic’s 2023 with three grand slams looked like slowing down the generational shift but the emergence of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner now seems to mark the change. Sinner became the champion in the Australian and US Open while Alcaraz clinched the French Open and Wimbledon. It means that titles will be split much more evenly and such era of 20 plus grand slam winners like Federer, Nadal and Djokovic will not be repeated again. Even when not actually playing the game, the Big Three especially Federer made tennis ‘groovy’ in the popular community. Now, new clashes and new hopes are appearing as tennis continues to progress while the legacy of Big Three will be felt for years to come.
