For the commemoration of Chandra X-ray Observatory’s twenty-five years of existence, the latest image of barred spiral galaxy NGC 6872 was made public on 22nd July of year 2024. At the present time, this galaxy belongs to the Pavo constellation and has a small neighbor with which it interacts; due to this interaction, gas is actually stolen from NGC 6872 and feeds the core supermassive black hole. Slightly measured to be 522,000 light years across, NGC 6872 is over 5 times bigger than Milky Way and was once labelled as the biggest spiral galaxy until the discovery of NGC 262 with a size of 1. 3 Million light-years was chosen for the title. This picture is one of the dozens that present Chandra’s X-ray images and thus illustrates the mission of the observatory to analyze the universe.
