The Philippine government has accused China of firing flares at one of its aircraft during a South China Sea patrol. On August 19, 2024, a Chinese fighter jet reportedly deployed flares dangerously close to a Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) plane near Scarborough Shoal. Flares were also launched near the same plane from Subi Reef on August 22.

It seems like the Chinese jet fighter was giving warnings in the wrong way. I mean, was deploying flares necessary? 
Incidents like this might only cause more tension between the two countries.
