The crew of a Taiwanese fishing boat has been detained by the Chinese coast guard after the vessel was seized near Taiwan-controlled Kinmen islands. The incident occurred Tuesday night, with Taiwanese coast guard ships attempting to assist but being blocked by Chinese vessels. Despite demands for the boat's release, the Taiwanese ships were warned to stay away, leading to the cessation of their pursuit to avoid escalating the situation. The fishing boat, which included two Taiwanese and three Indonesian crew members, was taken to a Chinese port. This confrontation is part of ongoing maritime tensions between Taiwan and China, with previous incidents including the drowning of Chinese fishermen in February and a brief boarding of a Taiwanese tourist boat by Chinese forces. China, which considers Taiwan part of its territory, has been increasing its military pressure to assert control over the island.
