China has taken a significant step in its space ambitions by launching 18 satellites for its Qianfan (Spacesail) constellation, marking the start of a planned network of 14,000 satellites to rival SpaceX’s Starlink . This new constellation, aiming to provide global broadband coverage, is part of China's broader push to lead in space technology and enhance its international influence . The Qianfan project, backed by the Shanghai government, is set to grow to over 600 satellites by 2025 and reach 14,000 by 2030. This move also underscores China's efforts to boost its commercial space sector and secure a dominant position in the global satellite internet market .
