Sun Yang took home the gold medal in the men's 400m freestyle at China's National Summer Swimming Championships. 
This is his first time competing in 4 years since being suspended by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in 2020 for refusing to give samples to testers who had visited his home. 
Because of that, many of his fellowmen vilified him as a drug cheat. However, his recent victory had earned him praises across state media.
