Oymyakon, a rural locality in Russia, holds the record for the lowest temperature ever recorded outside Antarctica, at -96.2 degrees Fahrenheit (-71.2 degrees Celsius).

I can’t even imagine surviving those insanely freezing temperatures. It’s like living in a giant freezer—totally fascinating but definitely not my ideal vacation spot!
