On Day 12 of the Paris 2024 Olympics, Quincy Hall clinched gold in the men’s 400m final with a personal best of 43.40, narrowly beating Matthew Hudson-Smith, who set a new European record. Noah Lyles, who won the men’s 100m, advanced to the 200m final by finishing second in his semifinal. In other events, Nelly Korda shot a level-par 72 in the women’s golf, and the U.S. women's basketball team triumphed over Nigeria 88-74. However, in a historic first, no U.S. teams medaled in beach volleyball, with both men's and women's pairs eliminated in early rounds. The U.S. will look to bounce back in 2028 when Los Angeles hosts the Games.
