Enough Salt in the Ocean to Cover Earth! 🌍🧂

Why is the ocean salty; This is due to salts found in rocks on the land, where water in form of rain together with river flows deposits to the sea. Sea water is also collected from beneath the sea water structures like hydrothermal vents which are present at the bottom of the sea. If all the salt were to be taken out of the oceans and distributed all around the world as a cover it would be more than 500 feet (or 166 meters) high; in fact, it would be as high as a 40 story building. 🌊

It’s pretty fascinating how the ocean got so salty! 🌊 When rain falls and rivers flow over rocks, they pick up salts and minerals, which eventually end up in the sea. Plus, there are these cool underwater structures called hydrothermal vents that also contribute to the saltiness. If we were to spread all that salt from the oceans across the world, it would create a layer as high as a 40-story building! That's a lot of salt! 🧂🌍
