Recently, a team of "sciencey" kayakers and snorkelers came across a dead sea serpent while they were out for a swim at La Jolla Cove in San Diego over the weekend. The aquatic animal in question is a giant oarfish.🐟

This is the only 20th time in almost 125 years that an oarfish has washed up in the state since 1901. The scientists are still working on determining the cause of its death. 🔍🧑‍🔬

According to Japanese folklore, the oarfish is an omen of a forthcoming earthquake. 😧

That’s incredible! 🐟 It’s amazing to see such a rare creature turn up. The oarfish’s connection to folklore adds a spooky twist. Here’s hoping the scientists can figure out what happened and that we don’t get any earthquake surprises. 🌊🔍
