Did you know that the ancient city of Babylon, located in present-day Iraq, had one of the earliest known legal codes, known as the Code of Hammurabi? This code, dating back to around 1754 BCE, consisted of 282 laws regulating various aspects of life, including commerce, property, and family matters. It's incredible to think about how civilizations have been shaping laws and societies for thousands of years!
