In this week’s penultimate episode of “House of the Dragon,” the dragon pit was activated with the rule being: claim a dragon or become its charbroiled lunch. Addam of Hull successfully claimed Seasmoke, aligning himself with Rhaenyra, though he remains unknown as Corlys Velaryon's illegitimate son. Despite most of the hopefuls being burned by Vermithor, Rhaenyra’s efforts yielded two new riders: Hugh, a blacksmith, claimed Vermithor, and Ulf, who believes he has Targaryen blood, claimed Silverwing. With at least five dragons now under her command, Rhaenyra is making strategic moves, including winning over the River Lords, albeit with some messy concessions. Daemon's struggles with his brother’s legacy and haunting visions continue, while Rhaena searches for a wild dragon and Alicent hides out, undecided about returning to King’s Landing. Aemond, meanwhile, learns his brother’s dragon will soon join the fight and retreats in fear from Rhaenyra’s growing dragon force.
