How come some 80s action movie soundtracks had better fight scenes than the movies themselves?

Ok, hear me out. I’ve been rewatching some old-school action flicks (think Commando, Bloodsport) and I’m starting to feel like the soundtracks were doing ALL the heavy lifting. Like, the fight scenes were cool and all, but the music made them feel way more epic than they probably were! 😅 Anyone else feel like some of those soundtracks could legit carry an action movie by themselves? Got any examples where the music totally outshined the actual action?

Totally agree! Those 80s synth-heavy soundtracks were like a secret weapon—think "Eye of the Tiger" in Rocky III or the iconic score in Top Gun, where the music was practically the third lead in all those epic fight scenes!
