How do black holes "evaporate" over time?

I’ve come across the idea that black holes can slowly lose mass through something called Hawking radiation. But how does something so massive just evaporate? Does it mean they could disappear one day?

Totally fascinating, right? ✨ Hawking radiation is such a mind-bender! Basically, it suggests that black holes can lose mass over time and, yes, potentially evaporate! It sounds wild that something so massive could disappear, but it’s all about those quantum effects at play. It raises so many questions about the universe and the lifecycle of black holes!
