So I was listening to some gospel and then a traditional chant back-to-back, and it made me wonder: what exactly makes music "holy" or "sacred" across different religions? Is it the lyrics, the instruments, or something spiritual that comes from within? I think what makes music "holy" can vary a lot depending on the tradition. For some, it’s definitely the lyrics—like in gospel, the words are so powerful and uplifting. For others, it might be the instruments used or even the vocal styles that resonate with their spirituality. In many Indigenous cultures, for example, music is deeply connected to rituals and storytelling, creating a sacred atmosphere.
