Inviting a huge family to dinner and I have no more space on the counter.

I have offered to host the holidays and the menu is going out of hand. I'm doing the classic "sweet potato casserole" but half my family is arguing about yams vs sweet potatoes and which one is more authentic. However, the issue that is actually troubling me is space. I am considering such rolling kitchen islands and modular side boards at abodelook because I am to be a staging area in which I will not be cutting my veggies on my stove. Have you installed an extra island or furniture on a temporary basis with the purpose of hosting a holiday? I must have some means of sorting out this mess!
