The Bloop is an ultra-low-frequency sound detected by underwater microphones (hydrophones) in 1997. It was an incredibly loud and mysterious noise that originated from an unknown source in the South Pacific Ocean. The sound was initially thought to be from a large marine creature due to its frequency and volume, but later analysis suggested it was likely caused by the cracking of an ice shelf or iceberg in Antarctica. Despite this explanation, the Bloop remains a subject of intrigue and speculation among ocean enthusiasts and researchers.
