The Menga Dolmen in southern Spain, a stunning 5,600-year-old monument, showcases incredible engineering feats with its massive stones, each weighing up to 150 tons—much larger than those at Stonehenge. Recent research reveals the meticulous craftsmanship involved, with stones cut and placed with millimetric precision, creating a trapezoidal chamber. The construction involved embedding the stones into deep foundation sockets and using a counterweight system. The dolmen's massive stones were transported from a nearby quarry using wooden sledges on a designed trackway. The builders' knowledge of physics, geometry, and geology was so advanced that it's been described as early science. The Menga Dolmen stands as a testament to the impressive skills of its creators, who managed to achieve this monumental feat with Neolithic technology.
