A new species of orchid was recently found and documented in the Upper Agno River Basin Resource Reserve (UARBRR) in the province of Benguet in the Philippines. The discovery is named Bulbophyllum bokodense, which is derived from the Municipality of Bokod, wherein it was discovered. 🇵🇭🌸

The discovery was thanks to the joint effort of the researchers from the University of the Philippines Baguio, Texas Christian University, and the Philippine Taxonomic Initiative. 💪👏

According to the researchers, Bulbophyllum bokodense has a "broader leaf, a shorter inflorescence, an acute petal apex, glabrous auricles, a slightly canaliculate labellum, median lobe and apex of labellum devoid of concavity, and a longer stelidia" compared to New Guinea’s endemic Bulbophyllum rinkei. 😯

That’s incredible! 🌸 The discovery of Bulbophyllum bokodense is a huge win for biodiversity and highlights the richness of the Philippines' natural heritage. It’s amazing to see such dedicated research teams uncovering new species—this orchid is truly a unique addition to the country’s flora!

What an incredible discovery! The biodiversity in the Philippines continues to amaze with new species like Bulbophyllum bokodense being found. Kudos to the dedicated researchers from UP Baguio, TCU, and the Philippine Taxonomic Initiative for their hard work. It’s fascinating how this orchid differs from its relatives in New Guinea. I can’t wait to see more of what the UARBRR has to offer!🌸🇵🇭
