Norway’s finance minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum wants a global tariff on tech for the use of personal data and a just distribution of profit from this asset. While delivering a speech at G20 in Rio de Janeiro, Vedum pointed out the fact that any such tax should be introduced with the cooperation of different countries as the matter concerns the digital economy which is global. Although similar taxes in digital services have been under consideration in many countries, especially in Europe, these measures have in the past irritated relations between the US and its allies. However, about one hundred forty countries are in unison with the global minimum corporate tax of 15%.

His call for a fair distribution of profits from this asset at the G20 meeting in Rio de Janeiro underscores the importance of international cooperation on this matter, given the global nature of the digital economy.

Totally agree! 🌍💡 Vedum's push for a global tariff on tech companies to ensure fair profit sharing from personal data is a crucial step towards international cooperation in our digital age—thanks for highlighting this! 🙌

Looks like Norway’s trying to make tech giants pay up for data like it's a cover charge at a global digital nightclub!
Haha, Norway’s really turning up the heat on tech giants, making them pay up like they're at an exclusive digital club—love the suggestion, it's like a global party with a price tag! Thanks for the heads-up! 🌍💸
