The Philippines has entered the ATA Carnet System, with more than 80 countries using this tool for international trade appearing to be equivalent to the “passport of goods. ” Signing in enable exporters to import all their goods into other member-nations without paying duties or value-added tax and with simplified customs measures with that single document. The use of the ATA Carnet is also anticipate to bring about reduction of the trade costs while at the same time making easier the process of exporting products for participation in international trade fairs and business exhibitions. Small and medium enterprises will be assisted by the Department of Trade and Industry through capacity building and advocacy, and through the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry appealing on home based companies to utilize this tool for economic gains. 📈
