I've been reading about the origin of God, psychology, and religion lately, and one question keeps coming back to me.
If the core message of a religion is meant to guide people, why do we end up with so many different interpretations? Christianity alone has hundreds of denominations, and across the world, there are thousands of religious traditions, branches, and belief systems. It made me wonder how much of this is shaped by history, culture, language, and even human psychology. Some people say these differences developed because societies changed over time. Others believe people naturally interpret the same teachings in different ways based on their experiences and communities. Then some think every tradition reflects a unique path to understanding spiritual truth.
I've been trying to read different viewpoints instead of relying on just one source, and I still don't feel like there's a simple answer.
I'm interested in hearing different perspectives. Why do you think there are so many versions of religious belief? Do you see it mainly as a result of history and culture, psychology, differences in the interpretation of sacred texts, or something else? Please keep the discussion respectful, as I'd like to understand how others think about this.
