According to NSC of Philippines, On June 17 China harassed a Philippine navy vessel with risky movements incorporating the ramming and towing, when supplying provisions to Ayungin Shoal in the West Philippine Sea. This announcement came after the China Coast Guard asserted to an alleged boat accident between the Chinese and the Philippine vessels near Ayungin Shoal. The NSC noted that in facing the threat and force of China and its sunk vessel detachment operations with this naval support from the PLARN, the CCG, and the MMM, Philippine personnel remained decorous and did not provoke the Chinese to heighten violence and overextend their force’s accomplishment of the mission.
