The Philippines has found two more mpox cases in Metro Manila. Both individuals tested positive for MPXV Clade II or the milder form of mpox virus. 
The Department of Health stated that the mpox case 11 is a 37-year-old man from the National Capital Region (NCR) who saw symptoms beginning Aug. 20, 2024. He was then admitted to a government hospital last Aug. 22 and remains there.
Meanwhile, mpox case 12 is a 32-year-old male from NCR who noticed skin lesions in his groin area with symptoms that began last Aug. 14, 2024, before developing a fever. He was then taken to a DOH hospital last Aug. 23.
The new cases bring the total mpox case count to 12 since July 2022, with nine cases recovered since 2023.
