What are some examples of movies that have successfully adapted books or real-life events into compelling narratives, and how do they compare to their source material?

One notable example is "The Social Network" which is based on the book "The Accidental Billionaires". The film released in 2010 dramatizes the founding of of Facebook and the legal battles that ensued. There are different facets to compare the movie from the source but one example is about the fidelity to events. The film closely follows the timeline and major events described in the book, focusing on the creation of Facebook and the subsequent lawsuits involving Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin and the Winklevoss twins.

Schindler's List nailed the Holocaust's horror, but for a feel-good adaptation, check out Little Miss Sunshine - both totally different but AWARD-WORTHY!
