Singson announces 2025 Senate run, gets Duterte support

Former veteran politician Luis "Chavit" Singson announced that he would run as senator in the 2025 midterm elections. Singson made the announcement on Wednesday in a speech that was shared on his Facebook page. He claimed that his candidacy was endorsed by former president Rodrigo Duterte. "It's an honor to be endorsed by [former] president Rodrigo Duterte. I'm so thankful because he didn't forget," he said in Filipino. "I first thought that I should ask my family first... But because of you, this is my first time to confirm publicly that I am running as a senator, with your support," he added.​

It’s interesting to see Luis "Chavit" Singson making a comeback in politics with his senatorial bid. His endorsement by former President Duterte could definitely influence his campaign, given Duterte’s continued influence in Philippine politics.
