Flowers come in all shapes, sizes, and...smells! While many flowers boast beautiful fragrances to attract pollinators like bees and butterflies, some have a far more gruesome strategy. These "carrion flowers" emit a foul odor that mimics the smell of decaying flesh.
Nature's adaptations never cease to amaze! What other unexpected strategies do plants use to survive and reproduce? Do you think there's a beauty to be found even in the carrion flower's "deadly" scent, considering its ecological function? Would you ever want to smell a carrion flower in person (with proper safety precautions, of course)?
