Spike in Lettuce Prices

My husband went to the store the other day - $3 for a head of iceberg lettuce!! (This is the Chicago suburbs.) WHAT HAPPENED? Just a few weeks ago it was $.99! Did some calamity happen that I'm unaware of?

Are you experiencing the same?

It's not just you—prices have spiked due to a combo of bad weather, planting gaps, and higher demand. California, where most of the U.S. lettuce comes from, had inconsistent weather and heat waves, leading to lower yields and smaller heads. 🌞⛈️ Plus, the supply from Central Mexico is struggling with high temperatures, pushing more demand onto California. Looks like we’ll be seeing these high prices for a bit longer! 😬🛒
