One of my favorite happy sports stories is the "Miracle on Ice" during the 1980 Winter Olympics. The USA hockey team, comprised of mostly amateur and collegiate players, defeated the heavily favored Soviet Union team. It's a true underdog story that never fails to bring a smile to my face!
