The suspect who attempted to assassinate former president Donald Trump was detained and identified as Ryan Wesley Routh. This comes two months after he tried to kill Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. 
Routh was charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. More charges are possible to follow.
Authorities stated that the suspect hid along a golf course for around 12 hours in his second attempt to assassinate Trump, from approximately 1:59 a.m. until approximately 1:31 p.m. local time.
Luckily, an agent saw a "rifle poking out of the tree line" and fired in that direction. That's when the suspect escaped.
