The cassowary is often dubbed the "deadliest bird in the world" due to its powerful legs and sharp claws! Native to the tropical forests of New Guinea, nearby islands, and northern Australia, this large, flightless bird can stand up to 6 feet tall and weigh around 150 pounds. With a striking appearance featuring bright blue skin, a helmet-like casque, and vibrant yellow wattles, the cassowary is both beautiful and formidable. When threatened, it can deliver powerful kicks, capable of injuring or even killing a predator or human. While it primarily feeds on fruits and seeds, its role as a seed disperser is vital to its ecosystem. Despite its dangerous reputation, the cassowary is a fascinating and important part of its habitat!
