The deepest trench on Earth, the Mariana Trench, plunges over 36,000 feet (11,000 meters) into the ocean depths. That's deeper than Mount Everest is tall! While we've explored the surface of Mars, the vast majority of the Mariana Trench remains a complete mystery.
Dark Twist: The crushing pressure at these depths is immense – about 1,000 times greater than atmospheric pressure at sea level. Imagine being down there! Even stranger, some extremophile creatures, like tiny jellyfish and single-celled organisms, have adapted to survive in this harsh environment. What other creatures might lurk in the darkness of the deepest parts of the ocean?
