The early version of ice hockey used a variety of objects, including balls and rubber discs. It was before the first standardized "puck" was introduced in the late 19th century. The first pucks were made from frozen cow dung, and they were later replaced by rubber.

I think it’s wild how something as simple as a puck has such a history! Though, I wonder—did the shape or size ever change over time?
