Prince Philip from "Sleeping Beauty" (1959) was the first Disney prince to be given a proper name. 🫅 Before him, princes were generally referred to by titles like "Prince Charming" in "Cinderella" and "Snow White." He was allegedly named after the prince that Americans knew of best at the time, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, husband of Elizabeth II. 🎬📽️
 
Wow, I had no idea his name might’ve been inspired by the Duke of Edinburgh! It’s cool that Disney started giving their princes actual names with him—it makes them feel more like real characters instead of just 'the guy who shows up at the end.'
