During the Winter Olympics in 1980, the underdog U.S. ice hockey team was made up of mostly amateur players. 
Despite that, they defeated the heavily favored Soviet Union team in the semifinals. 
What's more impressive is that the U.S. team went on to take home the gold medal.

It’s so inspiring how a group of amateurs pulled off one of the greatest upsets in sports history. The fact that they went on to win the gold just makes it even sweeter.
