Claire Danes was strongly considered for the role of Rose in "Titanic" (1997). However, she rejected it because she had just worked with Leonardo DiCaprio on "Romeo + Juliet" and wasn't ready for another romantic acting project. She later admitted she had "zero regrets" about her decision.

I think Gwyneth Paltrow was one of the actresses considered, though Kate Winslet was just perfect as Rose!
