The Pacific Ocean was named after its calm waters.

Explorer Ferdinand Magellan named it "Mar Pacífico," meaning "peaceful sea," in 1521. Do you think the name still holds true, especially considering the powerful storms and tsunamis that occur here?

Interesting! 🌊 Magellan’s 'Mar Pacífico' means 'peaceful sea,' but it’s definitely not always calm with those powerful storms and tsunamis. 😅 Nature can be so unpredictable!

I think it’s ironic, considering how wild the Pacific can get, though it must’ve seemed peaceful back then! 🌊😅
