Tiny Pistol Shrimp: The World's Loudest Animal! 🦐🔊

The pistol shrimp is only 2cm in size, but it has been described as being the world’s loudest animal. The bursts its claw which then closes to produce a bubble at the speed of light, the bubble bursts and produces a supersonic bang that is as loud as a Concorde’s sonic boom which can go up to 230 decibels, which is louder than the sound of a gunshot. This powerful snap also creates temperatures of about 4,400°C almost as that of the sun thereby helping it to paralyse its prey.

The pistol shrimp is truly a tiny powerhouse! It's amazing how something so small can create such intense sound and heat, practically a miniature underwater marvel. Nature never ceases to surprise us!

That’s crazy! I knew they were loud, but didn’t realize they were the loudest. I think nature is full of surprises though.
