Typhoon Shanshan is currently impacting southern Japan with heavy rainfall and powerful winds. The storm has disrupted travel, temporarily suspending bullet trains between Hamamatsu and Toyohashi and delays across the rail network. Japan Airlines has canceled several flights, both domestic and international. Authorities have issued evacuation warnings, particularly in regions at risk of landslides, like Shizuoka and Amami. As the typhoon continues its path, it is expected to affect Kyushu later this week, following the recent disruptions caused by Typhoon Ampil.
It’s tough to see travel getting disrupted with canceled flights and bullet trains out of service. I hope everyone stays safe, especially in the areas facing evacuation warnings. Let’s hope the storm passes quickly and that people can get back to their normal routines soon!
