U.S. And Allies Presents New Proposal to Israel and Hamas for Cease-Fire

On Aug. 16, the United States and its allies (Qatar and Egypt) shared they have proposed a "bridging" proposal to Hamas and Israel for a cease-fire and hostage deal. These countries hope that months of negotiations would at least result in an agreement to resolve a conflict that has claimed tens of thousands of lives and sparked renewed violence and instability in the Middle East.
