Wasabi in Restaurants Isn't Always Real

The green paste most people consider wasabi in sushi restaurants is often not real wasabi. 🍽️ Over 95% of the wasabi they serve does not contain real wasabi. Instead, the paste is a mixture of horseradish, mustard, and food coloring. 💚 Real wasabi, which is grated from a root, is much more expensive and has a more complex, less pungent flavor. 💰

Yeah, I’ve heard about this! I think it’s because growing real wasabi is tricky 🥢. Makes me wonder if I’ve ever tasted the real deal 🤔.
